a day in the life of Sag Harbor

Today Margot, Juliette and I decided to take pictures of some of favorite things in Sag Harbor. As we are moving in two weeks we are going to take pictures of all of the different areas in The Hamptons so we can remember our times here, add a sense of closure, and say good bye...and you guessed it-focus our attention. Can you guess some of my favorite things?

Attention

Attention:at-ten-tion; the act or faculty of applying the mind earnestly and with concentration. Whew, I find that really hard to do...I don't know whether it is because I am creative and make connections with everything, but my mind chases fleas and comes up with ideas. Scattered or creative tis the question.

Well keeping with the thought of Attention I decided I'd delve into that word a bit this month and come up with all sorts of fun adventures to train my mind to be more attentive. I also figured it would help me to put one foot in front of the other, and by pass some of those anxious thoughts that tend to come up when you move, or make any other life change...so hop on the bus and let's explore attention together.

Today, I have photographed a box of rocks, of which I will use this week as a practice in attention.

Have you ever looked upon a pile of jewels and compared them to thoughts...Some thoughts are tarnished and ugly, and need some cleaning up. Other thoughts sparkle, and bling. Still other thoughts are mundane and boring..and others are cheap like plastic. Which thoughts do you want to hold on to, for these will make up your treasure chest of life....

emptiness

Have you ever gotten to the point where you are feeling emptier and emptier. You don't know whether it is good or bad-just neutral emptiness...These buckets used to be filled with all kinds of things. Maybe berries, or water, or the deep brown earth, maybe sand from the beach. These buckets have carried many things. But it is in their emptying that they are useful once again..to carry..Who knows what...Are you empty enough to be filled?
